ABOUT STOUT | For exclusive, handmade design lighting, for almost 35 years

Lamps with surprising, refreshing and innovative design. With this mission, Hans Stout retreated to his attic in 1988, where he laid the foundation for Stout Lighting. Big dreams mean even more when shared and realized with a partner. After all, together you get further than alone. As such, Hans joined forces with his brother Sander after a year.

Soon the Stout brothers achieved their first success with the successful T-line. With these Light Architects as the driving force, Stout Lighting grew into a family business with a special range of lamps thanks to our varied collection of exclusive, handmade design lighting.

We have been perfecting the art of exclusive design lighting for almost 35 years. For us, this means so much more than burning light. Our lighting brings feeling and sets the mood in your interior. We work with carefully selected materials, such as ceramics from Italy or metals like brass and stainless steel from our own soil. This makes our lamps last for generations. One of our main sources of inspiration is the rich Italian culture. Hans once said about this: “When it comes to design, Italy is simply the country. Italians are the artists of Europe”. This mindset is unchanged to this day and you can find influences of Italian design in various Stout lamps. The trips that Hans and Sander made to Italy in the early years have become a tradition and from time to time you will find us again in the south.

Looking for original materials, a special factory or a special workshop. This is how we found beautiful Italian ceramics and a partner in Italy who can translate the material into our designs, so that you can enjoy it in collections such as Daytona, Luna, Maxime, Milano and Fine de Claires. We find other materials closer by, such as high-quality metal from the Netherlands that we process in our workshop in Loenen for our collections such as the Candle Fusion, Castle Fusion and The Hoxton.
